Metsä Board was honoured twice at this year's iF Design Awards: The „T2 Mini Fruit“ tea packaging won in the „Beverages“ category and the Elevated Drink Box, an innovative in-house development from the manufacturer of fresh fibre paperboard, received an award in the „Independent Packaging“ category.

Metsä Board's design team is behind both packaging concepts. Cyril Drouet, Design and Innovation Director at Metsä Board, said: „We are delighted with this great success. The iF Award stands for what our ultimate goal is: to help customers increase their brand value with sustainable, safe and innovative packaging solutions based on fresh fibre paperboard.“

The aim was to develop an innovative concept for „T2 Mini Fruit“ tea packs, The new flavours of the „T2 Mini Fruit“ tea range are packaged in boxes based on the individual fruit varieties. The new flavours of the "T2 Mini Fruit" tea range are packaged in boxes that are modelled on the individual types of fruit: Banana, Watermelon, Turkish Apple and Peach. The distinctive packaging also has a special closure. The print is applied to the uncoated side of Metsä Board's virgin fibre cartonboard to pick up on the natural feel of the fruit varieties and make the texture even more pleasant to the touch. The structural concept was developed by Metsä Board, while the T2 design team was responsible for the graphic design.

In addition, Metsä Board was recognised for its pioneering concept of „Elevated Drink Box (EDB)“ excellent. This innovative drinks box, for which Metsä Board has applied for a patent, makes it easy and convenient to enjoy drinks. Thanks to the raised base, it does not have to be placed at the edge of the table, but can be placed anywhere. The box does not take up any extra space on the shelf, as the base is integrated into the packaging and is only used when the drink is consumed. When the box is empty, the plastic bag can be easily removed and disposed of separately.
