By setting up a competence centre for heat-sealable papers, speciality paper manufacturer Drewsen wants to investigate the interaction between paper and the required machine parameters in greater detail.
The packaging industry is facing the urgent challenge of developing sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging. Heat-sealable paper is a promising solution. However, in order to utilise the full potential of this material Paper and machine settings perfectly harmonised become.
With the establishment of a competence centre for heat-sealable papers, Drewsen wants to contribute to the Development of customised and high-performance paper solutions to achieve. The Lachendorf-based speciality paper manufacturer has set itself the goal of investigating the interaction between paper and the required machine parameters in greater detail. To this end, the Competence Centre for heat-sealable paper was opened at the production site in Lachendorf at the beginning of 2025.
The Tubular bag machine from the Leipzig-based manufacturer Exaktapack, which is used here, makes it possible to vary various parameters in order to adapt the functional properties of the paper to the specific requirements of downstream processes.
„Our approach goes beyond pure material development. We see heat-sealable paper as an integral part of an optimised packaging process. By working closely with our customers and partners, we can develop solutions that are not only convincing from an ecological point of view, but also from a technical one. Interested companies and partners are cordially invited to visit the Competence Centre and work with us on the further development of innovative paper solutions.“
