Packaging manufacturer Schumacher Packaging Group has announced a strategic partnership with software provider Skrym. The two companies want to focus in particular on reducing the weight, volume and empty space of paper-based e-commerce packaging. The aim is also to reduce emissions along the supply chain. 

 

The Swedish company Skrym develops software solutions to increase the sustainability and efficiency of shipping packaging in logistics chains. For this Skrym analyses the logistics processes of online retailers - from ordering and packaging processes to delivery. Using existing data and artificial intelligence, the company identifies the optimum packaging size and shape to reduce empty spaces during transport - true to its vision of „Stop sending air“. In this way emissions and logistics costs of e-commerce customers reduced by up to 15 per cent while maintaining the same warehouse processes become.
