Greiner Packaging developed oil containers in two sizes for the Austrian company Genol GmbH & Co KG. During development, the aim was to combine maximum user-friendliness with an attractive design and high stability while minimising the use of materials.
In collaboration with the customer, a Greiner Packaging team consisting of the in-house design & prototyping department DesPro, project management and technicians developed a solution for both packaging sizes that fulfils all requirements: For the one-litre bottle, a container with laterally sloping recesses which serve as a handle and ensure that the container sits comfortably and securely in the hand. In addition, they are used as a labelling surface for attractive product decoration and also protect the labels against abrasion.
For the five-litre jug, a mould with Double handle developed. It ensures a Better weight distribution when stacked, because the weight does not rest solely on the closure. The flattening at the top of the handle also makes the jugs easier to stack.
For optimum pouring behaviour
The openings of both containers are placed off-centret, a challenge in production, an advantage in the end application: The eccentric neck finish ensures optimum pouring behaviour for both container sizes and virtually residue-free oil drainage. The containers are manufactured using extrusion blow moulding technology with optimised use of materials in a highly cost-efficient manner.
From production to storage and use, the two containers are optimised for the entire supply chain for the benefit of customers and consumers.
