The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy has honoured the insulated packaging for shipping, Easy2cool, as the „ZIM Cooperation Project of the Year 2021“.
The explanatory memorandum states: „The polystyrene and plastic packaging most commonly used in e-commerce for shipping food and medicines that require refrigeration is difficult to recycle. They therefore often end up in waste incineration. A sustainable alternative is packaging with film-coated recycled paper fibre mats. These can be safely disposed of in the Waste paper cycle be supplied.“
The award recognises outstanding research and development achievements and the particularly successful use of the results of the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) projects were honoured. In addition to Easy2cool, two other innovative SMEs and an innovation network were honoured with a certificate from the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
Easy2cool developed the sustainable packaging for refrigerated shipping in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden.
