Constantia Flexibles was honoured for its innovative EcoPeelCover solution - an innovative lidding solution with reduced material thickness for PP cup materials that is specially tailored to the dairy sector.
The company calls its development the „Thinnest ceiling solution with excellent puncture resistance“.
The aim behind the development of EcoPeelCover was to create a lid solution that is as thin as possible and at the same time meets the high standards of conventional die-cut lids.
By reducing the aluminium thickness to 25 µm and the extrusion coating to 13 g/m² - compared to the previous aluminium thickness of 38 µm and the coating of 24 g/m² - the material and energy efficiency is significantly improved. This corresponds to a Reduction of the aluminium thickness by 25 % and the coating by 50 %.
Despite the reduced material thickness, EcoPeelCover meets the standards of die-cut lids in terms of puncture resistance, corrosion resistance and peelability. The innovation offers optimum protection against water vapour and oxygen and is therefore ideal for preserving the quality of dairy products.
The EcoPeelCover sets new standards by significantly reducing the amount of aluminium and coating while maintaining the same functionality and quality, resulting in considerable material savings.
Despite these savings, EcoPeelCover continues to offer functionality, excellent barrier properties and product protection.
By continuously optimising its production processes, EcoPeelCover shows that sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand.
