SMC presents the ZGS area gripper for efficiency and flexibility in palletising. The compact, modular solution is ready for immediate use, saves energy and adapts to industrial and collaborative robots.
The new ZGS area gripper from SMC offers an optimised solution for palletising processes. The all-in-one configuration Combines vacuum generation, foam suction cup, supply valve, ventilation valve and pressure switch in one compact unit. Thanks to the plug-and-play design, the gripper is quickly ready for use via an M8 plug and compressed air connection.
With a height of just 75 mm and a weight of 3.9 kg, the ZGS makes installation easier and increases efficiency. The suction surface of 400 x 240 mm offers enough space for the safe transport of a wide variety of workpieces. Built-in springs also allow objects to be handled in different sizes, orientations and even in a vertical position, making Layout changes avoided become.
Thanks to its modular design, the area gripper can be customised to meet specific requirements. Users can Vary the number of vacuum generators, to optimise the intake performance and compensate for potential leaks. Another advantage of the ZGS is its energy efficiency. Compared to the existing ZL6H model the ZGS reduces air consumption by 15 per cent. In addition, integrated pressure monitors enable precise monitoring of the gripping process and thus increase operational safety. The ZGS area gripper is compatible with industrial robots and common collaborative robots (cobots) from leading manufacturers such as Universal Robots, FANUC, Yaskawa and OMRON/Techman.
