Injection moulding machine manufacturer Engel is pushing ahead with its internationalisation and is taking over its long-standing sales partner Roegele from April 2026. By founding Engel Spain, the company is strengthening its market position in south-west Europe.

Engel Austria GmbH, based in Schwertberg, is expanding its international presence: from 1 April 2026, the company will fully take over its long-standing sales partner Roegele S.A. in Barcelona. This measure will also see the founding of the new subsidiary Engel Spain.

„We see considerable potential in Spain - not only in the packaging industry, but also in technical injection moulding. With Engel Spain, we are creating the conditions to tap into new customer segments, increase our speed of response in service and strengthen our market position in the long term. The takeover is a logical next step after more than 50 years of successful partnership.“

Roegele has been Engel's exclusive sales partner since 1972 and has built up an excellent reputation in the plastics processing industry over the decades - from the automotive industry and medical technology to packaging and technical applications. With the imminent retirement of owners Bernd and Kai Roegele, a sustainable succession plan became necessary.

Engel is reportedly taking over the entire team and the location in Barcelona, which will be expanded as a new service and sales centre.

Strengthening local presence and customer proximity

With the integration of Roegele, Engel is pursuing the strategy of increasing its speed of response in service and offering customised solutions through local expertise.

Barcelona site to be modernised

Roegele's current location in Barcelona, with an area of around 600 square metres, offers ideal conditions for growth and development. As part of the integration, a modernisation of the infrastructure is planned in order to further expand the range of services in the areas of application technology, training and technical support.
