Sensitive products such as fruit and vegetables must be optimally protected by the packaging to prevent spoilage. At Fruit Logistica from 7 to 9 March 2024, Multivac will be showcasing technologies and concepts for environmentally friendly and economical packaging.
The exhibits on the Multivac The centrepiece of the line is the TX 710 traysealer. The centrepiece of the line: the TX 710 traysealer, which packs fresh berries in Biodegradable cellulose trays and seals them with a thin, transparent and compostable protective film that protects the product from premature spoilage. Equipped with sensors and an intelligent machine control system, the TX 710 always works at the optimum operating point thanks to permanent coordination of pack infeed, sealing and discharge - with maximum output and consistently high pack quality with minimum waste.
An optional connection to the Multivac Cloud enables production to be analysed and optimised in real time. The compact H 130 handling module takes over the automatic unloading of the packaging machine with high speed and precision by loading the trays into boxes after the packaging process.
Solutions for locking and labelling
In addition to the line solution, the company will also be presenting the compact T 305 as a stand-alone version. Traysealer for entry into fully automatic tray packaging small and medium-sized batches of fresh products. For all fruit that does not need to be packaged in a modified atmosphere or vacuum, Multivac will be presenting the Fruit Logistica with two conveyor belt labellers for sustainable and economical packaging. The labellers enable Sealing and labelling fruit and vegetable trays in a single step. In the TopWRAPTM process, a labeller applies a C-shaped label to the top and both sides of the tray. The trade fair exhibit shows the packaging of mushrooms in a cardboard tray with a film label, whereby the plastic content of the pack is less than ten per cent and the mushrooms stay fresh for much longer. A special manufacturing process for the labels ensures Adhesive-free zones on the inside, so that they are authorised for direct food contact.
Also to be experienced live at the trade fair stand: the packaging of loose berries in cardboard trays using the TopCLOSETM process. In this case, the labeller only glues a label to the edge of the fruit tray. Here too, the inside of the label remains adhesive-free. With a peeling corner, the consumer can then peel off the label and feed into the appropriate recycling channel.
The automatic packaging process on a conveyor belt labeller ensures noticeable cost savings compared to time-consuming manual solutions. With an output of up to 180 packs per minute, it ensures that food waste is reduced to a minimum.
Multivac experts will inform trade fair visitors about various ways to improve recycling and thus the ecological footprint of the product with innovative packaging designs and alternative materials, while at the same time minimising the environmental impact of the product. to produce more material-efficiently and therefore more economically. The focus will be on the PaperBoard portfolio, among other things. The trade fair appearance will be rounded off by a presentation on „Integrated Packaging Systems“ by Cem Yildirim, Regional Sales Manager at Multivac USA, on the TechStage on 8 February 2024 at 14:00.
