The new Epal Pallet app digitalises the management of Euro pallets. With a QR code function, mobile dashboard and tracking functions, the new The solution sets new standards for transparency and efficiency in pallet logistics.
The European Pallet Association e.V. (Epal) has introduced the new Pallet App, a web-based software solution that digitalises pallet management and tracking in logistics. The application is available free of charge to all users of Epal pallets. The centrepiece of the app is the integration of the QR code on the Euro pallets produced since January 2024 - more than two million units to date. The Combination of mobile application and dashboard is intended in particular to improve transparency in the movement of pallets and goods.
Two components for greater efficiency
The Pallet App consists of a mobile web interface for employees in warehousing and dispatch as well as from a Dashboard for the back office and centralised inventory management. The combination of both components enables Optimised management of pallet stocks and the tracking of pallets and goods.
The software is adapted to the QR code of the Epal Europallet QR, but can be Also for Epal pallets without QR code can be used. Users can quickly and easily create orders for pallet tracking, digitise logistics processes and track goods transports from dispatch to delivery.
„A common problem in goods and pallet logistics is the lack of transparency and traceability of pallet movements. Manual recording is inefficient and can lead to losses of pallets and goods. The EPAL Pallet App is a quick way for companies to digitise their logistics processes, especially in combination with the EPAL Europallet QR. The combination of the EPAL Pallet App and the QR code on the pallet makes intralogistics transparent and efficient and enables the tracking of goods and pallets in transport and goods logistics.“
Jarek Maciążek, President of Epal
Goal: transparency and automation
The dashboard offers logisticians a comprehensive overview of all orders and the stock of Epal pallets at the company's internal locations. Digital stock planning and automatic notification when stock levels fall below the minimum level ensure that all locations are optimally supplied with EPAL pallets. The quality of the used pallets can also be recorded via the mobile web app, which creates even more transparency for internal stock management. Paper-based processes are reduced and may be completely eliminated in the future.
„In many companies, load carrier management is often still manual and paper-based. This is inefficient and the transfer of handwritten pallet and sorting slips to the IT system is error-prone and time-consuming. The Pallet App offers fast and uncomplicated digitalisation of these processes. At the same time, the Epal Pallet App also improves the inventory management of Epal pallets at the company's own locations and in collaboration with customers and suppliers.“
Michael Brandt, Head of Logistics and Innovation at Epal
Epal emphasises that the app does not replace existing IT systems, but supplements them. Integration into ERP systems and other software solutions is to be facilitated in future by new interfaces. The addition of further functions is also planned. Feedback from users will be incorporated into further development.
Contribution to the circular economy
The app is part of Epal's sustainability strategy. The simplified administration and traceability pallets should be used longer, exchanged more efficiently and lost less frequently - central elements of a functioning pallet cycle. The application thus supports the principles Reuse, exchange, repair and recycling, which EPAL has been pursuing for more than 30 years.
