The Achertäler print shop has been honoured with several FINAT Awards for its artist wine label. Thanks to the Toracur W580 ink series from Zeller+Gmelin, the waterless offset printing achieved a particularly high-quality result.
The Achertäler Druckerei won the international FINAT Awards 2024 competition with two labels for a limited edition Pinot Noir from the Waldulmer Winzergenossenschaft. The labels, designed with motifs by Ortenau artist Bastian Fiala, won three first prizes:

- „Groupwinner of Printing Processes“
- „Best in Show“
Challenges during implementation
Frank Neumann, Managing Director of Achertäler Druckerei, emphasises the team effort behind the success: „Printing a work of art as a pictorial reproduction is a challenge. In order to reproduce all the effects of the original, we had to pull out all the stops with our printing and finishing technology. The realisation of this special label was only possible thanks to the cooperation of all specialist departments.“
High-quality colours for waterless offset printing
For printing the labels, the colour series Toracur W580 from Zeller+Gmelin on a Codimag Viva with Aniflo technology. According to Frank Neumann, the W580 is the first ink series that is fully suitable for this application. „We also appreciate the fact that these are monopigmented colours,“ he adds.
Successful collaboration
Alongside Achertäler Druckerei and the artist Bastian Fiala, Zeller+Gmelin made a significant contribution to the success of the project as an ink supplier. Uli Höfler, responsible for packaging and label printing at Zeller+Gmelin in southern Germany, assists the print shop with colour selection and application.
Conclusion: The multi-award-winning artist edition shows how innovative printing technologies and high-quality colours enable outstanding printing results. The Achertäler Druckerei is setting new standards in label printing with its realisation.
