What will the planned EU regulations hold in stock for the packaging world? This question weighs at the mind of many people in the industry. At interpack Dr Wolfgang Trunk, policy officer at the EU Commission in Brussels, gives some insights.
The EU Commission's plans for a new packaging regulation are the subject of intense debate throughout the industry. It is therefore interesting to understand the policy's stance in detail. Uniform rules throughout Europe on the design, composition and labelling of packaging that „lead to more high-quality recycling and thus more efficient use of scarce resources,“ says Dr Wolfgang Trunk of the EU Commission.
