The European PLACE Conference will take place in Munich from 26 to 28 May 2025. The focus will be on technical challenges in the packaging industry and networking along the entire value chain.
After a break of several years, the European PLACE Conference 2025 will be held again. The venue is the Le Meridien Hotel in Munich. The 19th edition of the conference is being organised by the newly formed European PLACE Committee under the patronage of the Association of German Packaging Engineers (bdvi).
With over 30 technical papers from the industry and ten presentations from applied research, the programme offers a broad overview of current developments in the processing of flexible packaging. Topics include extrusion coating, laminating technologies and the processing of polymers, adhesives and coatings.
Focus on collaboration and sustainability
„Face-to-face meetings are crucial in order to face the technical challenges of today together,“ explains Anna Helgert, Chairwoman of the committee. According to the organisers, these challenges include, in particular, legal changes and corporate goals in the area of decarbonisation and the circular economy. The conference aims to create a platform for closer collaboration across the entire value chain - from raw material suppliers and machine manufacturers to brand owners and recyclers.
The aim is to promote dialogue between industry and science and thus provide impetus for technical innovations. In future, the conference will take place every two years and establish itself as a permanent meeting place for the technical community of the packaging industry.
Tradition meets reorientation
The European PLACE conference looks back on over 30 years of history and has established itself as a forum for knowledge transfer in the European packaging industry. With its reorientation under non-profit sponsorship and an internationally oriented programme, it should contribute even more to industry exchange in future.
