In order to achieve high and consistent quality during the printing process, the smallest colour deviations, missing coatings, colour haze and mechanical faults must be detected. BST GmbH has launched a monitoring system on the market that is modularly expandable and monitors print webs via video.

The new BST PROView video web inspection system Monitors the print image of labels, shrink sleeves or decorative products in real time. At printing speeds of 1,000 metres per minute, the camera-based monitoring system from BST GmbH visualises the print image precisely and reliably during each printing process. With the help of BST PROView, errors can be recognised at an early stage and their causes rectified immediately. This reduces waste to a minimum and increases efficiency of printing systems.

With PROView, the company offers a cost-effective and user-friendly monitoring system that enables reliable control of the print image with numerous functions, even in the basic version. For example, a long-lasting LED flash homogenises the material webs. Through-flashes, paint flashes and UV flashes can be added if required. This allows BST PROView to Display of front to back register, varnishes and UV fluorescent colours.

Simple installation and operation

Operation is designed for maximum simplicity: It is operated intuitively via a multi-touch panel and the print image is displayed on a high-resolution 22-inch monitor. Live and reference images - according to the saved settings for image section, zoom, iris and position in the direction of web travel - can also be displayed simultaneously and directly compared with each other via a split screen. The Split-screen function enables continuous visual synchronisation of the current pressure with the good sample.

Whether in standard or advanced cut: all components are easy to install via plug-and-play and are quickly integrated into the existing system architecture. PROView is available with two camera sizes: The large version shows sections of 225 x 169 mm and has a 16x zoom. The smaller version shows cut-outs of 125 x 94 mm and has a 10x zoom. Thanks to its modular design, BST PROView can be customised to suit a wide range of different usage profiles. "With the additional options the railway processing industries increase the performance of the respective system exactly how it best suits the specific application," says Product Manager Volker Reinholdt.

All system settings for a printing process can be saved as a job. Among other things, this enables remote monitoring of production via the screenshot gallery. Here you can Up to 50 live images stored per job become. The Information can be accessed at any time and from anywhere via the respective company network.

Technology supports people

With the help of Haze Guard, the invisible to the human eye is made visible. By increasing the contrast, it visualises defects with weak contrasts such as colour haze, toning or missing paint. The Color Monitoring module also detects colour deviations in comparison with predefined colour values. The measuring points can be freely selected.

Another optional function is the semi-automatic CI register control. It offers Automatic register setting at machine startup and fast and precise support when resetting the register after a press stoppage. Without additional register marks, it then assigns the stand colour and all other colours to printing units via the monitor.
