Exhibitors and visitors were satisfied: FachPack has become more international
The number of visitors to FachPack 2018 rose to just under 45,000, while the number of exhibitors increased to 1,644. 38 per cent of exhibitors came from abroad.

The organisers of FachPack 2018 were pleased to welcome significantly more visitors and exhibitors. Around 45,000 guests, almost 4,000 more than two years ago, came to the leading trade fair for the packaging industry at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre at the end of September. The organisers, NürnbergMesse, noted that the trade fair is becoming increasingly international. The number of exhibiting companies rose from 1,542 in 2016 to 1,644, according to the final report of FachPack 2018.
Core of the FachPack This year, the German packaging industry was once again 1,023 exhibitors. The proportion of international exhibitors was 38 per cent. Neighbouring European countries were particularly well represented, especially Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria and Turkey.

The largest exhibition area in the twelve halls occupied for the first time was the Packaging materials and packaging. Packaging aids such as labels and closures were also well represented. A total of 780 exhibitors took part in this area. The Packaging technology were assigned to 560 companies. 297 exhibitors focussed on logistics topics. 224 exhibitors presented options for printing and finishing packaging.
Forum programme well received by visitors
According to the final report, the food and beverage, pharmaceutical and medical technology, cosmetics, chemical and automotive industries were the main sectors represented. At 90 per cent, the Decision-maker share high among the visitors. Almost every second visitor stated that they worked in a managerial position.

The extensive supporting programme was well received. This was particularly true of the two forums „PackBox“ and „TechBox“. A total of 120 speakers gave presentations there. An audience of 7,500 was interested.
Exhibitors satisfied with response
Many exhibiting companies also expressed their satisfaction with the visitor response to packaging journal. The New hall layout evaluated. „The trade fair went really well for us,“ said the team from DEW Waagen und Systeme. Strautmann Umwelttechnik, on the other hand, spoke of a „complete success“. Another packaging technology company was already pleased on the morning of the second day that they were heading for new record visitor numbers. There were isolated reports of a rather quiet first day.

Thomas Walter, Managing Director of Walther Faltsysteme, pointed out an important industry trend: „An important trade fair topic for us this year was the dynamic growth of online retail and increasing digitalisation. Our reusable transport solutions meet the requirements for automated processes, thanks to ID identification and travelling edge shelves, among other things.“
„You realise that the Packaging industry is undergoing radical change,“ says FachPack Director Cornelia Fehlner, summarising her impressions of the trade fair: „In addition to technical challenges, the industry is primarily concerned with the question: What clever packaging solutions are there for complex requirements that also serve the environment and consumers and take the entire cycle into account?“

Next FachPack with key theme „Environmentally friendly packaging“
Preparations are already underway for the next FachPack from 24 to 26 September 2019. The main theme will then be environmentally friendly packaging. On the last day of the trade fair, the new trade fair advisory board was constituted, which advises the trade fair organisers on technical and strategic matters. The members are: Oliver Bruns (Edelmann Group), Dr Thomas Cord (Loesch Verpackungstechnik GmbH), Sandra Englich (Verpa Folie Weidhausen GmbH), Sabine Gauger (Optima packaging group GmbH), Valeska Haux (Multivac Sepp Haggenmüller SE & Co. KG), Andreas Koch (Bluhm Systeme GmbH), Steffen Prodinger (Prodinger KG), Toni Sciacca (Knüppel Verpackung GmbH & Co. KG) and Frank Würthner (Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG).
