Faller Packaging optimises its production processes with a digital solution from EyeC. The EyeC Proofiler 1200 DT inspection system reliably recognises even the smallest deviations.

The pharmaceutical packaging industry demands the highest Requirements for accuracy, readability and security. Even the smallest error in writing or graphics can lead to costly rework, regulatory problems and a loss of customer confidence. „Our aim is to monitor production as reliably as possible, which is why we use carry out a thorough inspection after each individual process step within production„, says Andreas Hug, Team Lead Print Service at Faller Packaging, explaining the initial situation. In order to avoid economic damage caused by faulty products and at the same time increase efficiency and process reliability, Faller was looking for a digital solution that was capable of reliably recognising even the smallest deviations.

„An important criterion was that the inspection system should be simple and clearly structured in order to minimise any sources of error during operation,“ emphasises Hug. The decision was ultimately made in favour of EyeC GmbH and the scanner-based offline inspection system EyeC Proofiler 1200 DT, which impressed with its ease of use, fast familiarisation time, flexible adjustment of test parameters for different requirements and high image resolution for precise detection of even the smallest deviations.

Seamless integration: two systems for maximum coverage

The EyeC Proofiler system was integrated at two plants in the Print Service division at the Waldkirch site. Each system combines intelligent software with a high-resolution flatbed scanner and allows objective, reproducible quality control of texts, colours, graphics and codes. To do this, the EyeC Proofiler 1200 DT digitally compares the printed products against approved PDF templates and checks both print quality and content accuracy.

„The inspection system is used after the printing process to ensure the quality of our products. The last printed sheet of each individual job is always checked,“ says Andreas Hug, explaining the area of application. The intuitive operation enabled employees to familiarise themselves with the system quickly without extensive training measures.

The introduction of the EyeC inspection systems has led to significant improvements in quality assurance. Thanks to the strategic positioning in the production process, quality problems can be identified at an early stage before faulty products reach downstream processes.

„The inspection system ensures that only flawless goods are sent for further processing. This allows us to significantly reduce rejects and rework, increase customer satisfaction and optimise the efficiency of our production processes at the same time.“

High image resolution and flexible parameter settings also ensure consistently high quality standards, even with the most diverse product requirements.

Future-orientated partnership

With the successful implementation of the EyeC Proofiler 1200 DT, Faller Packaging has created a strategic basis for future developments. At the same time, the system's future-proof architecture opens up further expansion options and integration potential for the company, such as through additional automation options or even deeper integration with other production systems. Faller Packaging also relies on EyeC solutions at its sites in Binzen, Gebesee, Schopfheim and Worms (PackEx) - both for print sample inspection and for 100% inspection. This emphasises the company-wide demand for quality and process reliability.
