Avoiding environmental pollution is also important in the pharmaceutical industry. Secondary packager Faller Packaging has addressed this issue and developed the Eco Flex Box, a one-size-fits-all packaging made from fibre-based mono-material - without plastic and easily recyclable.

With the Eco Flex Box, pharmaceutical manufacturers can quickly adapt their production processes to the life cycles of their products with just one pack size. Different inserts offer the injectable medication protection and break resistance against impact, falling or pressure. They also facilitate flexible and secure packaging of various sterile products on conventional cartoning machines.

Optimised labels and package inserts

The portfolio of Faller Packaging also includes other sustainable products: For example, the company has developed a Multipage adhesive label for glass, plastic, paper and cardboard containers, which dispenses with the usual film lamination. It consists exclusively of paper and is therefore easily recyclable.

For its package inserts, the company uses a Thin printing paper specially developed and optimised for the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. According to the company, this achieves the same print image as conventional pharmaceutical papers with up to 20 per cent less ink.

For its packaging, in turn, the manufacturer uses Mainly paper and cardboard from sustainable and certified forestry. The company only uses paints and varnishes free of heavy metal compounds, mineral oils and aromatic solvents in the production of folding cartons, leaflets and labels.
