Closure labels provide first-opening protection

Labels are an important component of packaging in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotech and medical technology industries. They are used on primary packaging such as glass bottles and blister packs as well as on secondary packaging such as folding cartons. They fulfil a variety of different tasks - from the Transmission of information to doctors, pharmacists and patients through to the Protection against counterfeiting and tampering. This is because inferior imitations and unauthorised access pose a considerable health risk to users. They also cause considerable financial damage to the industry.

Closure labels are a simple and effective solution to this challenge. They are attached to the corner of the tuck-in flap of folding boxes, on bottles or on package inserts. There they ensure Safe first-opening protection. This has been a legal requirement for pharmaceutical products in the EU since 2019. The labels are equipped with a particularly strong adhesive that makes it impossible to remove them without leaving any residue. This makes tampering immediately visible and helps manufacturers to guarantee first opening in accordance with European Directive 2011/62/EU.
