Faubel is now integrating RFID tags and e-paper displays into a large number of projects. The demand for digital and dynamic labelling, particularly within logistics processes, is continuously increasing.
„The difficulty with these projects lies in combining the hardware efficiently and integrating it into the customer's existing infrastructure without disruption,“ explains Frank Jäger, Managing Director of Faubel and among other things responsible for the New Technologies Department.
Initially, Faubel obtains a large number of details about local conditions and the customer's future application, selects the appropriate hardware and programmes software that documents and transfers the necessary process data. The concept is then checked for feasibility together with the customer. According to Frank Jäger, Faubel, the The company's long-standing focus on labels for the research-based pharmaceutical industry in favour.
„From project management to development and assembly, we cover all requirements internally. This not only leads to high quality, but also to transparent communication and a fast response time.“ Frank Jäger, Managing Director of Faubel
New display sizes
Recently, the Faubel-Logistics label three standard displays available: 1.54 inch, 2.9 inch and 4.2 inch. The smart label continues to function without a battery and still permanently displays texts, numbers, codes and pictograms. The contactless data transfer between RFID tag and reader complies with ISO standards 14443 and 15693.
Frank Jäger emphasises that „the choice of stationary and mobile readers for the Faubel-Logistics label is therefore large. Even smartphones are suitable. This option is often requested, but its implementation depends on how stable an NFC connection can be maintained.“
RFID technology for unique identification
In addition to labelling with an e-paper display, Faubel is increasingly working on projects in which the unique identification of objects is in the foreground. „Then we write a serial number on the RFID tag in addition to the UID. If our customers want a back-up, we print the serial number on the label in plain text or as a barcode. All production steps take place in a machine that has two independent, 100 per cent data controls. That's safe and fast,“ says Frank Jäger.
