Applications for the Federal Ecodesign Award still possible until 8 April 2019

The submission deadline for the Federal Ecodesign Award 2019 is 8 April. Prizes are awarded in the categories „Product“, „Concept“, „Service“ and „Young talent“. The prize is awarded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Federal Environment Agency.

The submission deadline for the Federal Ecodesign Award 2019 is 8 April. Companies of all sectors and sizes, designers and students can enter their products and services for the prize, which is awarded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Federal Environment Agency in cooperation with the International Design Centre Berlin (IDZ).

The Federal Ecodesign Award is awarded in the four categories „Product“, „Concept“, „Service“ and „Young talent“. Large corporations and market leaders as well as start-ups, creative studios and small companies can take part. Students are also invited to take part in the young talent category, which is endowed with prizes of 1,000 euros each.

Federal Environment Minister presents the awards on 25 November 2019

The prizes are decided by experts from the Federal Environment Agency and the project advisory board as well as a Jury of high-ranking experts in a multi-stage process. The prize will be awarded on 25 November 2019 by Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze.

For all award-winning submissions, professional Image videos produced. They will be used for the competition's media work and made available to the prizewinners. The winning entries will then go on tour. In 2020, they will be presented at a Travelling exhibition will be presented to the public. The works of the other nominees will then also be on display. The exhibition of the 2018 competition opens on 11 February 2019 in Ludwigsburg.

The competition jury consists of the following members: Werner Aisslinger (product designer), Prof Anna Berkenbusch (communication designer, professor at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle), Andreas Detzel (environmental expert at ifeu Heidelberg), Prof Matthias Held (product designer, professor at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd), Prof em. Günter Horntrich (product designer, em. Professor of Design and Ecology at the KISD), Maria Krautzberger (President of the Federal Environment Agency), Dr Claudia Perren (architect, Director of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation), Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter (Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment), Prof. Friederike von Wedel-Parlow (fashion designer, founder of the Beneficial Design Institute).
