In a workshop process from December 2016 to May 2017, the members of the Fachverband Faltschachtel-Industrie e.V. (FFI) formulated a total of seven different scenarios for the future of the folding carton industry up to 2027.
The preliminary results of the discussion are currently being analysed in order to present them to FFI members at the association's next Annual General Meeting in Berlin at the end of June 2017. The reason for organising the Scenario workshops are phenomena and factors such as digitalisation and Industry 4.0, stationary retail and e-commerce, globalisation of procurement processes, Europeanisation of production and sales processes in the supply chain.
Last year, the FFI's Executive Board and Advisory Board took up the various discussions in the FFI's committees and decided to organise a Structured platform The aim is to identify and discuss a whole series of relevant key factors from the market, politics and society for the folding carton industry in order to develop possible „futures“ for the folding carton industry locally, nationally and internationally.
Project Future
The aim of this association project is therefore to formulate the possible effects of relevant factors on the market environment of the folding carton industry over the next 10 years. With the description of the market environment, the possible seven scenarios and the relevant factors, FFI members are to be supported in their own strategic development processes.
At the association's Ordinary General Meeting on 22-23 June 2017 in Berlin, which 80 participants from the circle of FFI members and Associated FFI members have registered for, the folding carton manufacturers will evaluate the seven scenarios developed and the underlying key factors, thereby provisionally concluding the FFI scenario project. Comprehensive documentation will then be made available to FFI members.
