Polish co-packer Fillsy and Swedish packaging technology company Meadow have announced the construction of a new production facility in Żyrardów, Poland. The factory will contribute to the production of Meadow Kapsul recyclable aluminium packaging and is expected to reach a capacity of 100 million units per year by the end of 2027.

The plant, which is being fully financed by Fillsy, represents an initial investment of €4 million; a further €10 million is planned for additional production lines and the expansion of the site by 2030. The project is a response to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) adopted in February, which obliges companies to achieve binding targets for recyclability and material savings. According to Fillsy, Poland offers a strategically favourable location for supplying the European market, as large consumer goods manufacturers such as Unilever and L'Oréal are increasingly setting up production facilities there.

Fillsy co-founder Paweł Siwirski explained: „This factory marks a decisive step for the European packaging industry. With the location in the heart of Europe, we are ensuring that the Meadow capsule system is available to brands across the continent.“

Annual production currently stands at around 10 million units. The planned expansion will make Fillsy the first European manufacturer to implement Meadow's technology on an industrial scale, according to the company. In addition to state-of-the-art production technology, a showroom will be set up where partners and customers can familiarise themselves with the possible applications of the system for food, personal care and household products.

Meadow already counts international partners such as Ball Corporation, DRT Holdings and the recycling specialist Novelis among its network. CEO and co-founder Victor Ljungberg said: „We are delighted to be partnering with Fillsy. It marks an important production location for Meadow in Europe and comes at a time of increasing market demand.“
