At this year's Luxe Pack at the Grimalid Forum in Monaco, Leonhard Kurz will be showcasing its latest developments, including the Silver Line finishing line with diffractive effects, the semi-transparent Lumafin decoration, which can be used to overprint different motifs, and other finishing series.
The range of possible finishes with Silver Line is wide - from large-scale reflective or matt designs to brilliant, fine partial decorations. The finish always produces reliable and consistent results. With Lumafin, Kurz has another finish in its portfolio that creates optical effects. The semi-transparent decoration can be used to overprint a wide variety of motifs. The underlying designs shimmer through as if they were behind glass. Lumfain gives cosmetics packaging, beverage and spirits labels and many other types of packaging a special look. a high-quality spot effect with optical depth and shimmering look. The finish is in transparent, transparent-metallic or in many different colours available.
Brilliant colours and bright white enhance cosmetics packaging
Luxor/Alufin SPP and SPW are two further finishing series with which Kurz demonstrates the further development of the traditional hot stamping process. While SPP sets accents with bright colours, fine embellishments and sharp-edged motifs, SPW impresses with radiant white and brilliant gloss. Both finishes are particularly scratch-resistant and abrasion-resistant and are characterised by their durability.

As multi-talented hot stamping finishes, the colour variants of the Luxor/Alufin series create breathtaking effects and elegant metallisation. A wide range of options is available, from fine details to large-scale motifs. The sharp-edged metallisations can be produced in numerous colour nuances and give every packaging a sophisticated look. They can be finish both cardboard, paper and laminated surfaces and provided with brilliant haptic hot stamping.
Translating social developments into design concepts
Year after year, the Kurz design team searches for current and future trends and social developments and incorporates them into a comprehensive design concept. This year, too four elaborately designed cardboard boxes were created under the name „60° - boxes to inspire“.“ reflect the social trends of our time and introduce several brand new short trend colours. The exclusive unveiling of the design will take place at the Luxe Pack. Here's a little spoiler beforehand: This year, the boxes are triangular for the first time.
Sustainable added value for the packaging industry
The specialist in thin-film technologies is continuously developing its own solutions, always pursuing the goal of making a contribution to greater environmental protection in the packaging industry. With the introduction of Recosys, the The world's first take-back and recycling system for surplus transfer media, Kurz has already positioned itself as a pioneer in this field. The system has now been further developed: Firstly, the range of carrier materials that can be recycled has been increased. On the other hand, it is With Recosys 2.0, it is now possible for the first time to produce recycled PET (rPET) from it and can be used for numerous everyday products.

Sustainability is not limited to the recycling of materials, but begins with the reduction of the material initially used. With KPS slim 2.0 (patent pending), the thin-film specialist has succeeded in doing just that, reduce the thickness of the substrate from 12 μm to a sensational 6 μm in cold transfer. Kurz will be demonstrating the difference at the trade fair. Another highlight in terms of sustainability endeavours is the Kurz Transfer Metal Technology (KTM). This enables a smart add-on module for existing laminating systems the high-quality finishing of numerous substrates - including paper and cardboard - with ultra-thin decorations. The high-gloss designs not only give every packaging an impressive look, but are also characterised by the fact that no plastic remains on the surface. This does not affect the recyclability of the packaging.
