New at Etiket Schiller is the option of sustainable finishing of labels using a transfer layer with certified compostability. This opens up additional design options for environmentally friendly labels.

This is made possible by the use of a compostable transfer layer of the Leonhard Kurz Foundation & Co. The labels finished with this do not lose their recyclability or compostability. Label manufacturer Etiket Schiller sees additional potential here. Design potential especially for producers of spirits, wines and delicacies.

Elegant embossing for sustainable labels

The hot stamping of Label Schiller with the transfer layer of the Leonhard Kurz Foundation convinces through Certified compostability. The transfer layer (e.g. LUXOR® MTS 220) of the finish has been tested in accordance with DIN EN 13432 as a harmless additive for the composting process. It enables a high-quality appearance with simultaneous environmental compatibility. This includes a Easy disposal in the industrial composting process. According to the Schiller label, the materials used at KURZ do not contain any ozone-depleting properties such as volatile halogenated hydrocarbons. In addition, no substances such as cadmium, lead, mercury or hexavalent chromium are used. Finishing with KURZ transfer products therefore fulfils all the requirements of EU Regulation 1907/2006 (REACH VO).

There is no film on the finished product. Only a wafer-thin layer of aluminium and lacquer is applied together with the adhesive. According to the company, the transfer layer is around 6,000 times thinner than a human hair and gives the label the Desired embossing. A PET transfer film serves as a carrier material during the finishing process.
