At Fachpack, the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V. (FNR) will be presenting various approaches for creating sophisticated packaging solutions with bio-based plastics.
Packaging made from and with bio-based plastics is regarded as a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging. They are produced on the basis of renewable raw materials, conserve fossil resources and increase CO2-content of the atmosphere, or only to a small extent. Which approaches can be used to eliminate the functional weaknesses, shows the FNR with selected examples at their trade fair stand. What they all have in common is that the packaging should have as high a bio-based content as possible and be recyclable.
FNR presents sustainable packaging concepts
Packaging concepts for Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) packaging based on polylactide (PLA), pouch packaging made from bio-based mono films, starch-based shrink films that can be frozen and processed on an industrial scale, and self-healing packaging, Bio-based coatings for cardboard packaging in the foreground. They are supplemented by training concepts and certified training courses for packaging experts.
Bio-based packaging is also the subject of the lecture slot moderated by the FNR on the topic of „New approaches for food packaging made from renewable raw materials“ on Tuesday, 28 September, from 13:30 to14:00 in the TechBox in Hall 3C.
