The European food industry is facing profound challenges: rising sustainability requirements, increasing global competition and technological transformations. Four leading companies - Alfa Laval, Krones, SPX Flow and Tetra Pak - have therefore launched the Food Manufacturing Technologies Europe (FMTE) into being. The coalition is pursuing a clear goal: pool the sector's strengths, to promote innovation, strengthen political influence and shape a sustainable European food system with minimal environmental impact.

A unified voice for a fragmented industry

Despite its significant contribution to the global market - the five largest European manufacturers alone held around 15 per cent of the global market share in 2023 - the sector has so far lacked a common voice. The establishment of the FMTE aims to close this gap. The coalition would like to unite companies of all sizes and offers them a platform to become actively involved in European policy-making and to help shape practical framework conditions.
