What consumers think about food packaging

Is too much fuss made about packaging? Yes, says almost one in four Germans. At least that's the result of a consumer survey. And not even one in five make their purchase decision based on whether the packaging is recyclable.

Is too much fuss made about packaging? Yes, says almost one in four Germans. At least that's the result of a consumer survey. And not even one in five make their purchase decision based on whether the packaging is recyclable. 

Almost two thirds of Germans take their own shopping basket or shopping bag with them when they go grocery shopping.

This is shown in the chart based on an exclusive survey by the Statista Global Consumer Survey on the topic of sustainable consumption. However, this does not automatically lead to the conclusion that the majority of respondents make sure when shopping that they Packaging waste reduce. 

Only just under one in five people make their purchase decision based on whether the packaging is recyclable or not. Around a quarter also agreed with the statement that too much fuss is currently being made about packaging.
