As one of the leading technology groups, GEA will be presenting numerous innovations at IFFA 2025 in Frankfurt from 3 to 8 May 2025: The company will be showcasing its expertise in the areas of meat, alternative proteins and cheese at the Main. The focus will be on the latest technological developments for food processing, slicing and packaging, which will significantly increase operational efficiency and greatly reduce energy consumption, according to GEA.
GEA's product portfolio in the area of food processing and packaging is one of the most comprehensive on the market and will also be represented at the trade fair in the form of a slicing, loading and packaging line with the latest technological innovations. A particular highlight is the premiere of the GEA OptiScanner 5000 and the GEA OptiSlicer 7000, which together set new standards in terms of slicing precision and efficiency, according to the manufacturer.
The OptiSlicer 7000, which is available with a single drive or optionally with two independent drives, enables high-performance slicing of two natural products with individual weight control for each web. In combination with the newly developed GEA Slicing Blade R505 with extended cutting edge, it offers outstanding portion quality and the option of processing wider products. In combination with the OptiScanner 5000, the latest optical scanning solution from GEA, upstream in the line, give-away is minimised and throughput is maximised. With optimum raw material utilisation in production, waste can be significantly reduced.
This efficiency has a significant impact: Depending on the application, reducing the portion weight by just two grams per 200 gram pack in two-shift operation can mean annual savings of 400,000 euros.
