The German Packaging Award also shows how the topic of Sustainability is driving the industry. "Sustainability is clearly a focus of current innovation activity. This runs across through all competition categories, all sectors and materials. We are seeing many remarkable innovations that utilise recyclates, that proactively and consistently ensure the recyclability of packaging or reduce packaging and material costs overall. Solutions made from mono-materials are on the rise. In addition, new materials and ways are being found to make packaging ever more sustainable," says Dr Bettina Horenburg.
