
The German Packaging Award 2024 honoured 41 innovations in 10 categories this year. The jury, consisting of 27 independent experts, selected the winners from almost 250 submissions from 13 countries from. The competition is organised by the German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi) and is regarded as the largest European showcase for packaging.
Category winners and focal points
The award-winning innovations come from Germany, Austria, Poland and the UK, as well as other countries such as Denmark, France, Israel, Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary and the USA. The innovations cover the Full range of materials from glass (2), wood (1), flexible plastic (5), rigid plastic (8), metal (4), paper, cardboard and carton (11), multi-material (2) and new material (2) to corrugated cardboard (4) and composite material (1). At least one innovation won the prize in each of the ten categories of the exhibition.
Specifically, there were Five design winners, two in Digitalisation, four in Functionality & Convenience, five in Logistics & Material Flow, six in Sustainability Overall Concept, four in Sustainability Material Substitution and Reduction, one in Sustainability Reusable, three in Sustainability Recyclability & Use of Recyclates, three for new material, two for new material, two for packaging machines, technology and software, two for product presentation and three for profitability.
