German Packaging Congress 2020 becomes a double event

The German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e. V.) is postponing the German Packaging Congress, which was postponed in March, and the German Packaging Award ceremony, which was planned for September, to 23 September 2020.

The German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e. V.) is postponing the German Packaging Congress, which was postponed in March, and the German Packaging Award ceremony, which was planned for September, to 23 September 2020.

Following the cancellation of the event originally planned for 19 and 20 March 15th German Packaging Congress due to the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic postponed had to be made, the German Packaging Institute e. V. made a virtue out of necessity. The network and industry summit, which was organised under the motto „Packaging for a better tomorrow“ the topics Sustainability and digitalisation now finds as part of a double event together with the ceremonial awarding of the German Packaging Award in Berlin instead.

After the regular congress programme from 10:00 to 16:00 follows the Presentation of the German Packaging Awards from 16:30. At around 18:00, the dvi will be inviting participants to a round table at the end of the double event. one-hour light dinner.

„With the double event, we want to Make the best of the current situation and enable our participants to attend two important industry events in just one day. We are thus offering them unique added value and at the same time reducing time and costs. As room rates for hotels are quite high due to the large number of events being postponed to September and a trade fair being held in Berlin at the same time, we want to enable our participants to travel to and from the event on the same day,“ explains Kim Cheng, Managing Director of the dvi.

The Conference programme of the German Packaging Congress remains unchanged. Only the workshops and excursions that were originally planned for the second day of the congress will have to be cancelled this year. For this reason, the dvi is reducing the ticket prices by 150 euros. Participants who have already registered will receive a correction invoice and a corresponding refund. New registrations will be possible from mid-April via the German Packaging Congress website at a reduced cost.

The Submission phase for the German Packaging Award 2020 remains unchanged. Since 1 March and until 15 June, companies, institutions and individuals from Germany and abroad can submit their innovations and best solutions to Europe's largest packaging exhibition. The German Packaging Award covers all materials and is organised under the Under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
