The 18th German Packaging Congress will take place in Berlin on 30 and 31 March under the motto “How VUCA is changing the (packaging) world”. In presentations, discussions and workshops, the industry summit will shed light on market volatility, developments in foreign trade and the megatopic of sustainability, among other things.
The word VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. It describes new states that bring with them unknown conditions. It also describes a world that looks very different from three years ago. The coronavirus pandemic, the Ukraine war, inflation and price explosions for energy and raw materials as well as disrupted supply chains have turned many habits and certainties upside down. The impact on the packaging value chain is also enormous - and require new questions, new thinking, new strategies and new means.
