Beverage carton Austria launches Recycling Mission 2025

With its current Recycling Mission 2025 campaign, the Getränkekarton Austria association aims to achieve an 80 per cent recycling rate for beverage cartons in Austria by 2025.

By 2025, 80 per cent of all used beverage cartons in Austria are to be collected in the yellow bin or yellow bag. The Getränkekarton Austria association, which represents the joint interests of Tetra Pak, Elopak and SIG Combibloc, is now launching a campaign to this end.

Empty milk and juice cartons belong in the yellow bin or yellow bag. In 2020, 63 per cent of all beverage cartons already ended up in the yellow bin or in the yellow bag in order to to be professionally recycled afterwards.

“With our ‘Recycling Mission 2025’, we want to work together with the population to increase the collection rate of beverage cartons in Austria to 80 per cent.”

Georg Matyk, Managing Director of Getränkekarton Austria.

Cheeky slogans and witty doodles that bring drinks cartons to life, that recycling can be really fun. From mid-June, City Light posters in all Austrian provincial capitals will be aimed at everyone who is out and about in urban areas and consumes drinks made from recyclable cartons. „Just in time for the start of summer, we are sending our drinks carton doodles on tour in Austria,“ says Georg Matyk. The tour can be followed on the social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; Influencers also draw attention to this important topic.

Participate and act

The campaign website is at the centre of the campaign Recycling Mission 2025 with further information on how to get involved and take action. The hashtag #gemeinsammeln explains the correct way to collect drinks cartons and aims to motivate people to comment, like and share.

The Recycling Mission 2025 campaign was developed in collaboration with the Salzburg agency bluforce group. Getränkekarton Austria represents the common interests of suppliers of beverage cartons in Austria - Tetra Pak, Elopak and SIG Combibloc - and, together with partners, is committed to the collection and recycling of composite beverage cartons in Austria.
