The Italian association of corrugated cardboard manufacturers GIFCO has documented key developments in the industry in its 2024 annual report - from environmental projects and training to EU regulations.

GIFCO was involved in several projects in 2024:

Made Green in ItalyThe environmental label for corrugated board was further developed in collaboration with the Bestack consortium and the Scuola Sant'Anna (Pisa). A revised version including a webinar presentation is planned for 2025.

New monographIl cartone. Una lunga storia di successo industriale italiano„ documents the role of corrugated cardboard as a successful industrial product in Italy. 2,000 copies were distributed to members.

Energy webinars & quality trainingIn cooperation with the „Centro Qualità Carta - Lucense“ laboratory, GIFCO organised nine training sessions on the subject of material testing. A webinar on the energy efficiency of ondulators was also organised.
Industry protection and communication work
In summer 2024, GIFCO took legal action in response to critical statements by Greenpeace on the origin of wood and choice of packaging. In addition, the association provided its members with argumentation aids to support the Sustainable profile of the corrugated board industry to emphasise.
