The mechanical engineering company Groninger is investing over 14 million US dollars in a new headquarters at its US site in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition, 60 new jobs will be created. This is Groninger's response to the continuing high level of orders in the North American market.
The Groninger Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of filling and capping systems for the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare and cosmetics industries, continues to expand in the North American market.
With an investment of USD 14.2 million in the expansion of its branch in Charlotte, North Carolina, the company is continuing its growth course in North America. In addition to creating 60 new jobs, the extension building will serve as the new headquarters for the USA.
„The expansion in Charlotte is based on long-term strategic planning and is a clear commitment to our customers in North America. We are not only investing in a new, even better production and manufacturing infrastructure, but also in the future viability of our company in this strategically important region. The North American market and the United States of America in particular have always been among our most important sales markets. They are the largest pharmaceutical market in the world and therefore a key growth driver for Groninger.“
Jens Groninger, Managing Partner of the Groninger Group
The family business has had its own branch in the USA since 1997 - initially in Basking Ridge near New Jersey, later in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is where Groninger USA LLC opened its current location in 2012.
„Since Groninger USA was founded, we have invested in the site and steadily expanded our local capacities. In the meantime, however, we are almost bursting at the seams. We have recently invested massively in our production in Charlotte and have grown significantly in terms of personnel - from around 60 employees in 2021 to over 110 employees today. This trend should and will continue. We are planning to create another 60 jobs by 2030.“
Philipp Hauser, CEO of Groninger USA LLC
The new building will be planned accordingly: The new headquarters will include office space, an assembly hall and a showroom. With a total area of over 5,000 square metres, including around 3,200 square metres for commercial use alone, the building will offer state-of-the-art working conditions. The existing site will be converted into a production facility and will continue to be used. A central aspect of the expansion strategy at the US site is the investment in new manufacturing and production facilities for the in-house production of components in order to further optimise efficiency and the supply chain, according to Crailsheim.
