Günter Baumüller, Managing Director of Baumüller Holding, passed away at the beginning of October after a short, serious illness at the age of 77.

Günter Baumüller was actively involved in the company's activities as a member of the advisory board until the end and was involved in numerous committees and trade associations on a voluntary basis. Under his leadership, Baumüller developed from a local company into a globally active, independent group of companies. Today, Baumüller employs over 1800 people. The company is headquartered in Nuremberg.

Günter Baumüller was born in Nuremberg in 1940. In 1973, he took over his parents' company and developed it into a leading Supplier of electrical automation and drive systems from. Intelligent system solutions for mechanical engineering and e-mobility are developed at six production sites and over forty branches worldwide.

His children Karin Baumüller-Söder and Andreas Baumüller have been active as shareholders in the management of the group of companies for many years. Andreas Baumüller has been responsible for the entire Baumüller Group as Managing Partner and CEO since 2009. Years ago, Günter Baumüller handed over overall responsibility to his son and thus actively acted as an advisor on the Advisory Board. Together with his sister, Karin Baumüller-Söder, sets Andreas Baumüller The active management and further development of Baumüller continues.

Voluntary commitment

In addition to his professional activities, he was also involved in voluntary work. Günter Baumüller was a long-standing board member of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI). He was also awarded the ZVEI's golden badge of honour there. He was Vice President of the Nuremberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Middle Franconia. Günter Baumüller helped to establish the mechatronics degree programme at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, as well as the Mechatronics Study and Diploma Prize for particularly outstanding graduates. Günter Baumüller was an honorary senator at Nuremberg Institute of Technology. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit and the State Medal for special services to the Bavarian economy.
