Hastamat, manufacturer of packaging machines and packaging systems based in Lahnau, Hesse, is presenting its new Vertical Multilane Wrapper (VMW) at this year's interpack.
This now makes the packaging of sandwich cookies and cookies in rectangular or round shapes very easy: the machine concept combines a Grouping device for lumpy goods and a Wrapping process in vertical design. Thanks to two different loading positions, products can be packed upright next to each other (on edge) or lying on top of each other (on pile) on the same machine. This is made possible by a completely newly developed grouping module. Within five minutes, the machine can be converted from one type of packaging to the other, whereby Different packaging sizes can be produced.
Modular scores
The advantages of the machine also include the Space-saving, compact design, which allows it to be used in confined production areas. The VMW also impresses with its consistent modular structure and flexible, scalable designs with the option of operating several lanes in parallel. This means that up to 500 cookies per lane can be packed per minute and up to 22 per cent of packaging material can be saved. The system can be expanded as required, so that a total packaging output of up to 12,000 products per minute can be achieved.
The (VMW) packs sandwich products uncooled. This eliminates the purchase and operating costs for a cooling tunnel. The packaging machine is extremely gentle on the product so that the cookies, which are often fragile, are not damaged. The packaging still fits snugly around the product, as it is not wrapped via a format tube but by means of a patented conveyor system and packaged without accumulation pressure. The VMW processes both heat-sealable and cold-sealable films.
