At the Hunkeler Innovationdays, which take place from 24 to 27 February in Lucerne, Switzerland, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG will be presenting the world premiere of the nearline finishing solution „Fireline“ with the Stahlfolder models TH 56/66 for automated end-to-end production in digital printing.
The Stahlfolder TH 56/66 Fireline for nearline finishing in digital printing enables highly automated processing of the digitally printed sheet through to the finished cut and folded print product in one operation. Cutting, creasing and folding are carried out in a single pass.
„In conjunction with industrial printing, efficient, highly automated finishing is crucial for the profitability of digital print production in order to efficiently channel a wide range of different jobs through production. Our new Fireline postpress solution is therefore an important addition to the Heidelberg digital ecosystem. This brings us a big step closer to end-to-end production throughout the entire print production process.“
Dr David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at Heidelberg
While the Stahlfolder TH 56 Fireline was developed as a finishing solution for the Jetfire 50, the Stahlfolder TH 66 Fireline in combination with the Jetfire 75 is intended for the B2 format. Heidelberg plans to unveil the Jetfire 75 in the course of 2025. The market launch of the B3 sheetfed inkjet system Jetfire 50 with connection to Prinect technology, which was presented at drupa 2024, is proceeding according to plan and the first customer installations will soon take place at users in Switzerland.
Wide range of different end products covered
The Stahlfolder TH 56/66 Fireline is fully integrated into the Prinect workflow. This means that the system can be preset automatically and almost independently of the operator based on the Prinect job parameters. The standard stored programmes cover a wide range of different end products. With regard to the Jetfire 50, the possible products range from posters in the final formats A3 and A4 with all-round trimming for motifs that fall off the edges, to four-page brochures (A4 portrait, A5 portrait and landscape), through to eight-page A6 products with zigzag, parallel or spiral folds. To minimise the number of system changeovers, Prinect combines similar jobs into batches that are processed in sequence on the Jetfire 50 and the Stahlfolder TH 56/66 Fireline.
Due to the high degree of automation even less qualified employees achieve professional results and high productivity. In addition to the stored standard programmes, individual programmes can also be configured and saved manually.
