Heinz wants to test Pulpex paper bottle for ketchup

Ketchup manufacturer Heinz is working with Pulpex to develop a recyclable paper-based bottle made from 100 per cent sustainably sourced pulp.

Ketchup manufacturer Heinz is working with Pulpex to develop a recyclable paper-based bottle made from 100 per cent sustainably sourced pulp. 

Power Heinz and Pulpex are currently developing a prototype to test how the innovation could be used for Heinz Tomato Ketchup bottles and other packaging formats in the coming years. The current data from Pulpex show that the CO2-The carbon footprint of Pulpex bottles is significantly lower than that of glass and plastic bottles. They are also expected to be widely and easily recycled in paper waste streams after use.

Consumers should choose

The next step will be prototype tests to evaluate performance before the bottle is tested by consumers and placed on the market becomes.

The cellulose-based bottle joins the ranks of the reusable Heinz icon bottles made of glass and plastic as well as the squeeze bottles made of plastic with their 30 per cent recycled content, which are only available in the EU, and the 100 per cent recyclable caps.
