Technologies for late-stage customisation down to batch size 1 are currently electrifying many industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and FMCG, as they allow packaging to be perfectly personalised, resources to be conserved in the packaging process and market-specific requirements to be met more efficiently. HERMA is therefore presenting the new PA8 4C printing and labelling system, with which these requirements can be implemented in the best colour quality.
Probably the first system of its kind, it now enables the full-surface digital full-colour printing on white labels and the exact assignment to the packaging for which the fully customised label is intended. Labelling options are Top, corner and U-labelling possible. The labeller specially developed for this system ensures that only the last label printed is applied.
For the print comes Memjet®-technology for use. The water-based ink is also very well suited for sensitive applications in the pharmaceutical or food sector. On Memjet®-technology are available in both paper and PP film versions, both glossy and matt.
The integrated Four-colour management system (CMYK) ensures that specified colour values, for example for logos and defined spot colours of a corporate design, are achieved to a high degree regardless of the label material selected.

Just-in-time design
The Products are currently inserted manually, However, automated systems are also conceivable in principle. For small batches, it must always be considered whether automated systems are economically viable in these cases.
In terms of packaging dimensions, the system is initially designed for Sizes from 90 x 50 x 15 millimetres to 150 x 150 x 30 millimetres. Adaptation to different packaging sizes is achieved via corresponding format sets. The range of labels extends from 45 x 85 millimetres to 175 x 150 millimetres.
The system allows the user to design only the packaging that is actually required just in time, without having to store a large number of pre-printed folding boxes in the warehouse, for example.
