Self-adhesive specialist Herma has developed a semi-automatic wrap-around labeller for small batch sizes or personalised medicines.
With smallest batches or non-stable products fully automatic machines quickly reach their limits when it comes to the Reliable labelling pharmaceutical products. The new semi-automatic wrap-around labeller 211 HC now combines the high Flexibility of manual product feed with a complete pharmaceutical equipment including printer for variable data and codes as well as camera for print and code control. About 15 products per minute can be labelled reliably and precisely with the device.
„However, speed is not the decisive factor in this case,“ emphasises Ulrich Fischer, Head of Product Management at Herma in the Labelling Machines division. „In some cases, we are talking about personalised medicines or at least very small batch sizes, as is the case with patient studies for marketing authorisations, for example. The 211 HC ensures that they can also be labelled to the same quality standards as products that run through a complete, mostly automatic packaging line in large quantities and at high speed.“
The 211 HC is therefore ideal for use wherever small Glass vials, syringes, cartridges and pens which often cannot be handled by conventional fully automatic machines simply because of their shape, size or weight.
Quick changeover with format sets
With the 211 HC, the cylindrical and dimensionally stable products horizontally between two motorised rollers and the swivelling peel-off edge with pressure roller. The label is then dispensed onto the rotating product and rolled into the correct position. The tolerances in height and spiral offset are at only ± one millimetre. After the labelling process, the peel-off edge swivels back and the labelled product is removed. by hand from the labelling station taken from.
For the Printing variable information such as expiry date or batch numbers before dispensing can be different. Thermal transfer printer or laser printer can be used. The Integration of a camera for print and code control is possible for all standard labelling systems. If products with changing dimensions are to be labelled, format sets are available with which the labelling system can be Quick changeover leaves.
„Under the heading of ‚personalised medicine‘, we are currently experiencing a significant increase in small batch sizes in the development of pharmaceuticals - making labelling efficient and reliable at all times is a challenge,“ says Martin Kühl, Head of the Herma Labelling Machines Division. „With the 211 HC, we are showing how this is possible without compromising on labelling quality and process reliability.“
