Baumer hhs has expanded its Xmelt product portfolio for applications with hot melt adhesives to include hot melt hoses with a metal inner core, which have a service life around three times longer than conventional plastic hoses.
DF stands for Degradation Free. Literally translated, this means „free from degradation“. For the new DF hot melt hoses with a metal inner core, however, it means free from burning.
„The metal inner liner significantly increases process reliability in hot melt applications. This is because it reliably prevents oxygen from diffusing into the hoses if they are heated up over a longer period of time - for example, because machine operators forget to switch off the melters before the weekend. Tests have shown that the hot melt adhesives in the DF hot melt hoses remained unchanged and clear after 50 hours at 180 degrees Celsius. Their quality has not deteriorated even after this long period of time. This means that the metal inner core generally prevents the adhesives in the hoses from burning.“

With the new DF hot melt hoses from Baumer hhs, there are no more machine failures due to filters and nozzles clogging up because of coking. In short: production lines with hot melt systems that are converted to these hoses, are characterised by higher availability. There are further advantages: The new DF hot melt hoses require less maintenance. In addition, their metal inner core reduces energy consumption by around 20 per cent, which improves the sustainability of hot melt adhesive applications.
Compatible with other hot melt systems
The DF hoses with metal inner core were developed for the Xmelt product range from Baumer hhs, which processes and applies hot melt adhesives in countless industrial applications worldwide. In addition, the company also offers versions that Compatible with various common hot melt systems from other suppliers are. „The hoses previously used in these systems can be practically plug & play replaced with our new DF hot melt hoses,“ promises Walther.
