HPV revises manual for packaging technologists

The German Association of Paper and Plastics Processing has revised all volumes of the manual for packaging technologists and offers digital versions.

The German Association of Paper and Plastics Processing (HPV) has fundamentally revised all volumes of the manual for packaging technologists and now offers up-to-date printed and digital versions. This was announced by the association in a press release. The three-part standard work is aimed at all packaging technologist trainees and supports them in learning the profession.

With the Manual for packaging technologists we improve the knowledge base of our young employees by offering practical learning information. This information is based on the framework curriculum and has been developed and compiled by experts from vocational schools and companies. As an association, we would like to sincerely thank the authors of the handbook.“

As part of the further revision, the individual Chapter with QR codes provided. A scan of the codes takes users to a wiki on the portal mediencommunity.de. There they have the opportunity to supplement and update the manual with films and other online content. Here to go directly to the manual.

The content of the first volume is based on the Requirements for trainees in the first year of training. The learning fields „Determining packaging functions and comparing operational structures“, „Selecting packaging materials“, „Producing standardised packaging“ and „Monitoring and maintaining assemblies“ are taught.

The second volume for the second year of training teaches the learning fields „Manufacture and prepare tools“, „Ensure material flow and set up production systems“, „Control logistical processes“ and „Develop packaging and plan production processes“.

The third volume of the handbook for packaging technologists is aimed at trainees in the third year of training. It covers the learning fields „Printing and finishing packaging materials“, „Controlling production systems“ and „Quality“. Finally, it contains the learning field „Producing packaging materials“, which teaches trainees how to carry out a packaging project independently an important basis for the final examination.

In order to be able to continuously supplement and update the contents of the handbook, the HPV offers a PDF file on. All interested parties have the option of either downloading all three volumes as a complete volume or the learning fields individually. For member companies of the employers' organisations, the respective state associations have bound copies of the individual volumes available. These can be requested directly from the relevant state association.
