Hugo Beck: Flowpack machines for absolutely leak-proof packaging

Hugo Beck is experiencing increasing demand from the medical and pharmaceutical sectors for flowpack machines that guarantee one hundred per cent leak-proof packaging seams. The flowpack X-D machines achieve this, for example, when packing stacked petri dishes.

Hugo Beck is seeing increasing demand from the medical and pharmaceutical sectors for flowpack machines that guarantee one hundred per cent leak-proof packaging seams. The flowpack X-D machines achieve this, for example, when packing stacked petri dishes. Several layers of packaging are required to protect them.

Flowpack machines are particularly suitable for packaging where a hermetic seal is a prerequisite for the hygiene of the packaged product. The flowpack X-D machines from Hugo Beck ensure Absolute airtightness. A leading manufacturer of petri dishes recently selected these for packaging a wide range of sizes and container variants. The growing demand for hygiene controls in food and the workplace, particularly in emerging markets, means that more Petri dishes are needed than ever before. Hygienic, 100 per cent airtight packaging is essential to meet the strict requirements for cleanrooms.

Example from practice

In this application, stacks of ten Petri dishes are removed upright from the production line and transferred to a buffer section and, after swivelling through 90 degrees, transferred to a finger chain system. Desiccant bags are placed on the stacks as moisture protection. This composite is then first flowpack packaging wrapped. The film is provided with a tear-open aid and a hanging hole in the area of the transverse seal. Separate flowpack X-D machines then join Two further flowpack layers is added. A label is applied to the packaging that the colour in the sterilisation process changes. This way, users can be sure that sterilisation has taken place and that the Petri dishes meet the required hygiene standards.

Optional features

The flowpack machines are customised and can be easily integrated into existing production environments. Up to 200 cycles per minute are possible. Optional features of the flowpack X-D models for pharmaceutical products and cleanroom applications include automatic film changers, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and the option of automatically cutting and applying desiccant or oxygen absorber bags. Stainless steel versions and protective panelling made of safety glass ensure optimum cleaning and hygiene.

„Flowpack machines are ideal for packaging applications in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors,“ summarises Hugo Beck's Sales Manager Timo Kollmann. „The ability to protect products with an absolutely hermetic seal and thus guarantee hygiene is increasingly in demand from both manufacturers and users. Our flowpack X-D machines offer precisely this option as a decisive advantage.“
