iba, the world's leading trade fair for bakery, confectionery and snacks, opens its doors today, Sunday. It will take place from 18 to 22 May 2025 at the exhibition grounds in Düsseldorf.

The trade fair summarises all products and technologies that are relevant for bakers and confectioners of all sizes, decision-makers from the baked goods and confectionery industries and the food retail trade. 1073 exhibitors from 46 countries and 57,000 visitors from 150 countries streamed through the aisles over five days of the trade fair in 2023.

The spectrum of topics ranges from raw materials, baking ingredients and frozen baked goods to production and packaging technology, including Lantech, a manufacturer of end-of-line packaging machines, which will be presenting automated carton processing systems at iba. Or Syntegon: with the FGCT Count Feeder, the company is presenting a solution for sandwich cookies in Düsseldorf; the packaging machine is celebrating its European premiere at iba.

Digitalisation and artificial intelligence are also important topics for the baking industry. Modern software solutions make it possible to optimise processes and improve customer service. The shortage of skilled labour also increases the demand for automation - Customised solutions are required here. By using robotic solutions, AI automates production and also keeps product quality at a consistently high level.
