Three gold awards for successful packaging designs were presented at this year's iF Design Awards. The 66 awards were presented on 15 March 2019 in Munich in front of more than 2,000 guests.
Traditionally, the iF Design Award packaging designs were also scrutinised. The competition entries in this category were divided into the areas of food, beverages, health and personal care, medicine and pharmaceuticals, household, consumer products, industry and B2B as well as unbranded packaging design.
Combination of beer can and champagne flute
Finally, the Gold Award went to three packaging designs from the sub-categories of beverages, consumer products and health and personal care. In the beverage packaging design category, the Bremen-based brewery Anheuser-Busch InBev impressed the judges with its packaging for Beck's beer the jury. The perfect execution of the design idea was praised. „The combination of Beer can and Champagne flute shakes up our preconceptions about drinks,“ the evaluation panel also commented.

The clear colour language and the scientific graphic symbols were the elements that impressed the jury with the packaging of the Food supplement series „Cheong Kwang Jang“ from the South Korean supplier „Korea Ginseng Corporation“ in particular. The design language helps consumers to recognise the benefits of the respective health-promoting food. This design is contemporary and „stylish“.

Sustainable and trendy electronics packaging
His excellent, Sustainable and trendy packaging design finally brought the electronics group BenQ a gold award. The Taiwanese company presented a moulded packaging made of cellulose for a projector. It protects the sensitive product from knocks and drops without the use of adhesives or additional protective layers.
„We, the jury, were really impressed to see how high the design quality of many products has become. However, it is noticeable that there is a great temptation to orientate oneself on design benchmarks and not dare to try anything really new.“

A total of 6,375 contributions applied for the award, which is presented in seven categories. The field of participants was very international. Designs from 50 countries were submitted to the jury's judgement. The submissions were assessed by a 67-member jury.
