With an investment of 70 million euros, Innovia Films is opening a new production line for sustainable labelling and packaging films in Schkopau.

Innovia Films, manufacturer of BOPP films, has commissioned a new 8.8 metre wide co-extrusion line at its site in Schkopau near Leipzig. The line produces special films with thicknesses between 15 and 50 micrometres and has an annual capacity of 35,000 tonnes.

With this investment totalling 70 million euros, Innovia is pursuing the goal of meeting the demand for thinner, more material-efficient and recyclable film solutions. The central location in Europe in direct proximity to customers should also bring logistical advantages.

The new line is based on the Linear Motor Simultaneous Stretching Machine (LISIM) from the Brückner Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG. This technology enables the Simultaneous stretching of the polymer in the machine and transverse direction, which, according to Innovia balanced material properties, improved optical properties and a lower carbon footprint lead.
