International Paper is considering the construction of a new plant in Salt Lake City, Utah. The planned plant is to be part of the strategic growth initiative in North America.
With the potential expansion of its production capacities in the west of the USA, the company intends to growing demand for high-quality, sustainable packaging solutions and expand its regional presence, it says.
„Salt Lake City would be a new market for us and an opportunity to better serve our existing customers as well as strategically attract new customers,“ said John Berry, Group Vice President and General Manager of International Paper's Packaging Group West.
The project comes shortly after the ground-breaking ceremony for a new plant in Waterloo, Iowa, and is in line with the Group's long-term growth strategy.
If the plans are realised, the plant will reportedly be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Details on the investment amount, size of the plant and new jobs will be announced at a later date.
