IP closes plants in California and Kentucky

International Paper (IP) announces the closure of its packaging sites in Compton (California) and Louisville (Kentucky). Both mills are to cease operations by January 2026. The company justifies the move with the ongoing reorganisation of its North American packaging network.

The closure of the Compton site affects 125 employees, while 93 employees are affected in Louisville. According to the company, the impact on the workforce is to be minimised as far as possible, including through transfers to vacant positions, natural fluctuation and retirements.
