Leaks in tray packs with protective gas are a huge problem for the food industry and retailers. Ishida Europe Limited offers a ground-breaking system for detecting leaks.

Ishida AirScan uses laser technology to identify the smallest holes, even at high speed, thus maximising product quality without compromising on output, according to the company.

The system reliably detects even very small holes of just 0.3 mm in diameter and achieves speeds of up to 160 packages per minute, according to the manufacturer. Users also reduce packaging waste because the inspection process is completely non-destructive. Ishida AirScan is predestined for tray packs containing meat, poultry, seafood, ready meals or meat substitutes, for example. The quality control system can be easily integrated into existing packaging lines, the company concludes.
